The Brinkmann Bardo is a direct-drive turntable engineered to combine the speed stability and accuracy of a direct-drive system with the refinement and low mechanical noise traditionally associated with the finest belt-drive designs. Designed and manufactured in Germany, it features Helmut Brinkmann’s proprietary magnetic direct-drive motor, where the platter itself forms part of the motor assembly, eliminating the need for belts while maintaining exceptionally smooth, controlled rotation.
A resonance-optimised aluminium platter with a polished crystal glass surface, precision hydrodynamic journal bearing and 15mm Duralumin chassis contribute to its clarity, timing and dynamic expression. The rotatable armboard accepts tonearms from 9 to 12 inches, while the external power supply provides accurate electronic speed control with fine adjustment for precise setup. The Bardo Performance version further enhances performance with Brinkmann’s upgraded metal-cased power supply, delivering improved bass definition and greater spatial realism.
