Thales
switzerland
Thales is a Swiss analogue manufacturer founded by Micha Huber, specialising in tonearms and turntables.
The brand is best known for its tangential pivoted tonearms, which use a complex mechanical geometry to reduce tracking error while retaining the practical advantages of a pivoted arm.
Thales addresses one of vinyl replay’s fundamental problems: a conventional pivoted tonearm cannot maintain perfect tangency across the whole record. Thales tonearms use a dual-arm geometry based on Thales’ theorem to keep the cartridge much closer to the correct groove angle, with tracking error quoted at extremely low levels. This makes the brand highly relevant for serious analogue users focused on geometry, tracking accuracy and mechanical precision.
