Engström
Sweden
Engström is a Swedish manufacturer of high-end valve analogue electronics, founded by Lars and Timo Engström.
Their designs use carefully executed analogue circuits, with products such as LARS, MONICA, ARNE and ERIC built around low distortion, hand selected components and zero negative feedback.
Engström’s distinction is that it does not use valves as a soft-focus effect. The amplifiers are designed to preserve tone and harmonic structure while maintaining speed, grip and bandwidth. In a suitable system, Engström gives the texture and dimensionality people value from tubes without losing the control required for serious loudspeakers.

The Engström M-PHONO is a fully valve MM and MC phono stage engineered to preserve the integrity of the analogue signal through an uncompromising minimalist design. Designed and hand-built in Sweden, it was originally developed as the phono section within the MONICA preamplifier before evolving into a dedicated standalone component, allowing both the phono and line stages to achieve their full performance potential.
A fully valve signal path using four carefully selected triodes, transformer-coupled moving coil input and precision passive RIAA equalisation contribute to its clarity, transient speed and precise retrieval of musical detail. Separate moving magnet and moving coil operating modes, selectable MC loading and a dedicated low-noise power supply allow the M-PHONO to partner a wide range of cartridges while maintaining the natural tonal balance and musical realism that define Engström’s analogue designs.

The Engström LARS is a fully balanced Class A valve monoblock power amplifier engineered to deliver exceptional transparency, dynamic expression and loudspeaker control. Designed and hand-built in Sweden, it employs a transformer-coupled architecture throughout with no global negative feedback, allowing the signal to pass through an exceptionally linear circuit while preserving the natural tonal character and immediacy for which directly heated triodes are renowned.
Twin 300B-XLS output valves, transformer-coupled circuitry and a fully balanced signal path contribute to its clarity, transient speed and precise retrieval of musical detail. Independent monoblock construction, carefully regulated power supplies and hand-selected components ensure exceptional channel separation and low noise, while selectable input sensitivity and output impedance allow the LARS to integrate seamlessly with a wide range of reference loudspeakers and source components.

The Engström ERIC ENCORE is a fully balanced Class A valve monoblock power amplifier engineered without compromise to drive even the most demanding loudspeakers. Designed and hand-built in Sweden, it employs transformer coupling throughout the signal path, separate power supplies for the input and output stages, and powerful 845 output valves to deliver exceptional authority, transparency and dynamic expression.
Twin 845 output valves, transformer-coupled circuitry and a fully balanced architecture contribute to its clarity, transient speed and precise retrieval of musical detail. Driver stages built around 6L6GC and EC8010 valves, together with dedicated DC filament supplies and an exceptionally robust power supply, allow the ERIC ENCORE to reproduce music with remarkable scale, control and realism whilst maintaining the natural tonal character for which Engström amplifiers are renowned.
